DISCORD

Smooth waters lull into comfort,
Hearts void of anxiety’s tears.
New love’s calm pretense shudders
Before time lends us to fear.

When from safe harbors ships depart
And dark clouds roil above,
Tempers flare unchecked
As patience tests true love.

Anger echoes through the maelstrom.
True meaning’s left in binds.
Salt stings in open wounds.
Clear judgment’s left behind.

Through crashing sea and torrid wind
Two souls seek common ground.
Amidst the storm clouds swirling
Some comfort can be found.

O’er shrouded horizon distant
Breaks memory’s shining orb,
Reminding lovers sharply
That love begets discord.
